Group Finance and Control provides financial services to Sanoma Learning, Sanoma Media Finland and the entire Sanoma Group. Sanoma Group’s Finance and Control functions include Business Control, Technology Control, Functional Control, Financial Control, Accounting Services, Tax, and Finance Development.

We are now looking for a

Business Controller Learning Technology

to join the Technology Controlling team which is responsible for the controlling of the centralized Technology departments of Sanoma Group and Sanoma Learning. You will report to Finance Director Technology & Product.

Your main responsibility area is the business controlling of Learning Technology teams in parts of Europe. OPEX, CAPEX and asset management controlling are part of your domain. Your business partners will be Technology managers and Product managers in the region who are responsible for making our Learning platforms for our customers. You will closely work together on business cases, forecasting, budgeting and strategic planning. You will also contribute to the whole Group IT management team work, present finance in the management team and develop management reporting. Transformation and integrations are strongly reflected in the Group IT roadmap and thus also in the business controlling role making it challenging and interesting.

In addition to business controlling, this role offers a strong finance system and process development angle. We have major finance system projects in the pipeline for the next year in which we design the future processes and reporting.


  • Supporting Learning Technology teams as a finance partner
  • Monthly closing and reporting OPEX and CAPEX
  • Technology planning and forecasting including cash flow
  • Developing and unifying the controlling processes
  • Ensuring transfer pricing compliance in cooperation with Tax department
  • Developing fixed asset management and internal controls
  • Developing digital environment and reporting
  • Contributing to the Sanoma Learning level tech reporting
  • Being a finance expert in SAP and other finance system projects and contribute to financial reporting interface.                     

What helps you to succeed?

  • Minimum 5 years in demanding business controller role
  • Solid Business controlling experience including cash flow and balance sheet analysis and forecasting
  • Hands-on attitude and working style as this position combines high-level planning as well as focus on details and implementation  
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive and independent approach
  • Strong team player
  • Solid experience of SAP. Advanced Excel skills. Experience of HFM is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English. Dutch, Finnish is an advantage.
  • Experience in working in a multi-cultural matrix organization is an asset
  • University degree in financial and business administration or similar, preferably with accounting background
