The Accounting Services team is an integral part of Sanoma Group Finance Control and provides accounting services to Sanoma’s Learning and Media operations. As a function we aim to provide scalable and high-quality accounting services, driving value from an end-to-end perspective. We want to be the go-to party for all local accounting related questions.
Our Finance function is going through a significant transformation program where we are implementing new finance systems and are reshaping our finance organization which includes the insourcing of accounting activities currently performed by a service provider in India.
As a result, we are now building an entirely new accounting team where continuous improvement is in our DNA. Sanoma’s culture is dynamic, and we are looking for driven, positive individuals who are not afraid to take ownership and make decisions independently.
In this role you will be responsible for statutory and tax reporting for a number of legal entities in scope of the Nordic & Group team. On a monthly basis you are in charge of the month-end closing process, ensuring quality and timely reporting of the financial results in HFM, ensure accounts are reconciled and key controls are performed. You are responsible for all statutory reporting including preparation of financial statements and tax filings.
You are the first point of contact towards external/internal auditors and coordinate potential local tax audits. You also collaborate proactively and closely with business stakeholders and other finance colleagues, providing strong local accounting and tax expertise.
Further, you play a key role in continuously improving and enhancing our local accounting, tax and reporting processes. You are quickly able to adapt to new processes and tools, can resolve any problem quickly and understand how to optimize our systems and ways of working. The role also includes participation in various finance development projects, such as the roll-out of new finance systems.
To succeed in this role, we are looking for the following qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance
- Three years of experience in accounting or audit in an international company, preferably Big4
- Strong knowledge of local GAAP and tax, basic IFRS knowledge considered a plus
- Advanced SAP knowledge is a definite advantage
- Strong analytical and data optimization skills
- Proactive, Customer driven continuous improvement mindset
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in English and any Nordic language (Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish)
- Ability to build good relationships with stakeholders
